Most of you all know me as Sarah Jane, the Artist. However after hours, I turn into Sarah Jane, the Foster Carer for SA Dog Rescue which is a not for profit organisation run solely by hard working volunteers.
With the disturbing truth that 250,000 dogs and cats are put down every year as they are unable to find a home, I know that each dog that comes into my care is one of the lucky ones, as SA Dog Rescue has a no kill policy.
To those of you that follow my work, you have probably seen a x cattle dog feature in some of my video posts lately. Well that gorgeous little girl is Star, my current foster dog and sadly she is one of the dogs who has been in the foster system long term. So we are reaching out to all of you to see if we can find this girl her forever home and give her the Christmas present she truly deserves – a loving family.
Star is around 3 years old, is a large dog weighing just under 30kgs and loves a kiss and cuddle. In fact she is one of those dogs who just craves attention and pats and needs to be close to you at all times. She is fine outside during the day, in fact loves lying in the sun, but likes to sleep inside at night and has been known to be caught out on the odd occasion on the couch or bed. She is no longer in the “chew” phase but you may find something destroyed on a rare occasion. My latest victim, my thong! She does know basic commands, sit, lie down, stay, come here, shake hands so is quite well behaved in general but like many rescue dogs, Star has experienced trauma in her younger years. Left to survive on the streets she can be protective of herself around other animals so care needs to be exercised during walks and meal times. . She would suit a family but is probably best around children 8 and upwards as she can jump up. She is a beautiful, gentle girl who loves people but is best suited to a home that will give her the love and time she craves. So if you are interested in adopting this sweet girl please contact SA Dog Rescue to determine if your home may be suitable and ensure to put the subject title as Star – x cattle dog. From myself and Star thank you for taking the time to read this. If you would like more information on the adoption process please click here
The rescue group does a marvellous job of rehoming dogs and cats across SA but is always in need of help. If any of you can help in anyway through donations, adoption or volunteering please contact SA Dog Rescue via their website or Facebook Page
